God Is Love

     

     
     Sometimes we feel so alone. Our imperfections are all we see, and it feels like we're drowning. We can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. We feel there's no hope for us; we're just too far gone. We sigh, and keep living life... Barely. Our heart feels empty. Seeing other people and their "perfect" lives just makes us feel even worse about ourselves. We wonder why we can't keep it together. Everywhere we look we collect proof that we're not ok, and that it's not possible for us to be ok. We question "What is love anyway?"

     I've been there, as I'm sure many of you have been as well. I know what it feels like to wonder if love is even real. I know what it feels like to doubt that love is for me. It's not uncommon to question. 

     I know some of you may even doubt that you deserve to be loved in the first place. You feel the mistakes you've made are too big. You feel defined by the wrong decisions you've made, and because of it you may have shut yourself off to even feeling love...

     But there's something out there for you to discover. Close your eyes with me for a moment and let's go on a journey using our imaginations. 
     
     Every sunset God made for you! 

     Every ocean wave for you! 

     Every singing bird for you! 

     Every galloping horse for you! 

     Every laughing baby for you! 
     
     Every calm breeze for you! 

     Every fragrant flower for you! 
     
     Every beautiful thing was created for you! God wanted you to be able to see his love every day. Everywhere you look he wanted you to be able to see how much you mean to him. 

     And you know what else? It doesn't matter how much you've screwed up. His love always stays. It doesn't matter how far you've run. His love is always waiting with open arms. It doesn't matter how imperfect you are. His love calls you perfect. It doesn't matter if you feel you don't deserve it. His love wants to remind you every day how worthy you are. 

     God's love is not unreachable. You don't need to try and break down a brick wall to get to it. God is always right there beside you, just waiting. Waiting for you to accept the love he so wants to offer you. See, he is never going to force it on you. He knows you need your space. But once you're ready, he's right there with open arms. In that moment you will feel love like never before! It's not something you need to earn, or work up in any way. It's simply a gift that you have the opportunity to accept.
